JAMMU, Mar 21: With the arrest of two individuals, Police in Channi Himmat area of Jammu District claimed they have solved a theft case and recovered stolen items worth several lakhs from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that on February 26, 2024, a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Channi by a widow woman, Farida Khan, who stated that while she and her daughter was out of their home, some unknown thieves barged into their residence and decamped with valuables amounting to Rs 4.5 lakh and a cash amount of Rs 2 lakh.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 25/2024 Under Sections 454, 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation started.
He said that accordingly a team headed by Inspector Mohammad Sadeeq Jatt, SHO Channi Himmat, along with incharge Police Post Sainik Colony, PSI Amrik Singh was constituted by Sheezan Bhat, SDPO City East Jammu.
During investigation, the police parties raided several hideouts after general human and technical intelligence and rounded up several suspects besides putting them to questioning, he said.
The police spokesperson added that during sustained questioning, two suspects Akash Khushu of Muthi Domana and Latief Mohammad of Narwal Jammu, admitted to their involvement in the crime.
On their disclosure, he said, 70 grams gold items, 150 grams silver items, a scooty, and an LED purchased by the duo was recovered and seized from their possession.
Further investigation into the case is underway, added the police spokesperson.
