Theft case worked out; stolen weapon, cash, ornaments recovered

JAMMU, Oct 24: Police in Sarwal area here today claimed to have arrested one person and recovered from his possession a stolen weapon, along with some cash, mobile phone and gold ornaments.
A police spokesperson said that on October 3rd, 2023, one Shah Mohammad son of Bagh Ali of House Number 187 A, Subash Nagar, Jammu, lodged a written complaint with Police Post Sarwal, stating therein that some unknown persons committed theft in his house and decamped with a DBB (12 bore gun), Rs 20000 cash, along with his tenant’s mobile and Rs 25000 cash.
Acting on the written complaint, he said, a case FIR number 144/2023 Under Sections 454/380 of the IPC was registered and investigation taken up.
During investigation, the police spokesperson further said that a team of Police Post Sarwal led by incharge Police Post, PSI Dhanraj Singh, under the supervision of SDPO City West, Vikram Singh, assisted by SHO Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Rakesh Sharma, and under the overall supervision of SP City North, Kuldeep Handa, rounded up one suspect Shuba Shubam of Gurha Qasim Nagar, Bakshi Nagar at present near Kali Mata Mandir, Shiv Nagar, Jammu.
During questioning, he added the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, the stolen DBB 12 Bore Gun, along with 14 rounds, Rs 25000 cash and one stolen mobile phone, was recovered.
Further interrogation of the accused led to the recovery of golden ornaments and a cash of Rs 25000 in another case registered on October 10th, 2023 at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, Jammu, he said, adding that further investigation into the case is underway.
