‘The Monolith’ comic book heads to big screen

LOS ANGELES, Aug 24:  An adaptation of comic book series “The Monolith” for the big screen has been announced.
Lionsgate is developing the film adaptation based on the graphic novel series of the same name by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The twelve-issue comic series, which was published in 2004 and 2005, follows Alice Cohen, an ex-junkie who inherits a house in Brooklyn from her deceased grandmother.
She discovers a diary that reveals the creation of a golem in the 1930s set on revenge for the slaying of a good man.
Meanwhile, the film will center on the monster known as the Monolith.
Dave Wilson, creative director (“Deadpool”) at Blur Studios, is set to make his directorial debut in the adaptation of the classic golem legend.
Wilson was previously involved in the making of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”.
He has worked on a lot of video games and trailers, including “Mass Effect 2” and “Star Wars: The Old Republic”. As for Bettler, his credits included “Allan Quartermain” and the upcoming adaptation will be his first major assignment. (PTI)
