JAMMU, July 12: A protest was held at Thathar Bantalab against scarcity of drinking  water in the Kandi area of Thathar.
The protest was organised by the Grameen Civil Society (GCS) and Bawa Kailakh, Dev Prabandhak Committee.
GCS president, Shakti Dutt Sharma told that keeping in view the shortage of drinking  water in this area OHT was sanctioned for this purpose.
Bawa Kailakh Dev Prabandhak Committee donated the land for the OHT in the interest of the local population.
The construction was started in 2011-12 and now two years have passed when the work is  totally complete even the trial has been done by the construction company ERA but it  is unfortunate that the supply is not being done through this OHT. People are facing  hardships.
Many representations have been given to the Chief Engineer P.H.E Department  (Jal Shakti) but nothing has been done with the excuse of shortage of funds. Protesters  appealed to the Lieutenant Governor and the Advisor of the concerned Department to make  the OHT functional so that the people may not face hardships of drinking water.
Master Rampal Seth president Bawa Kailakh Dev Prabandhak Committee, Pawan Gupta,  Satish Gupta, Sahil Seth, Mittu Gupta and GCS members Dr. Varun Padha, Sunil Raka  and Rajat soodan were present.
