ECG, USD machines lying defunct

RAJOURI, Jan 16: Sub Divisional level Hospital at Thanamandi in district Rajouri is facing total neglect from the District Administration and the senior officers of Health department at Rajouri and Jammu Directorate.
The public of Thanamandi, especially the Municipal Committee members have lambasted the Health Services authorities for delaying the upgradation of PHC Thanamandi which lacks all basic facilities like, Ultra Sound, ECG and other primary necessities, which are essential in any Sub Divisional level hospital. The local public wants to know why a Sub Divisional headquarters lacks a CHC even in 2020. They maintained that LG Administration must take immediate action in this regard.
Speaking to the media, Master Tanveer Hussain Khan, Maqbool Damal, Mushtaq Thakkar, Haji Abdual Hamid, Aftab Dar, Farooq Mir, Mukhtar Ahmed have lambasted the Administration and pointed out that even in 2020 a Sub Divisional headquarter still has a PHC. They showed great resentment against the authorities who have failed to upgrade this important healthcare Institute to even a CHC or SDH level.
They alleged that there is just a single doctor available for around 250 patients per day. There is no Surgeon, no Gynecologist, no Physician available at Sub Divisional Headquarters. Tanveer Khan further said that Thanamandi is the only Sub Division in entire Jammu and Kashmir which has a PHC at its Headquarter. People have demanded immediate upgradation of this PHC to at least CHC in the greater interest of common public.
They further alleged that ECG room is lying locked since long despite the fact that machine is available while there is no person to operate USD machine. For the last over two years, the local BMO and CMO Rajouri have failed to make these machines operational for patient welfare.
CMO Rajouri, Dr Sanjeev Puri when contacted claimed that he was not responsible for vacant posts of doctors or non-operation of ECG, USD etc. He claimed that ECG machine was lying defunct since long while Director and Commissioner/ Secretary Health and Medical Education and even the Chief Secretary were well aware of the matter. It is better to contact them for the comments, the CMO Rajouri remarked.
