Addressing a press conference, Thakur criticized the NC for glorifying Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), stating that it reflects their affinity for a country known for sponsoring terrorism. “Yesterday, NC MLA Mir Saifullah made a misleading statement, claiming that PoJK is more developed. I strongly condemn this remark,” he said. He added, “I want to ask Mir Saifullah: What do you call development? Do you consider Pakistan’s establishment of terror camps as development? Do you consider the infiltration of terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir as progress?”
Thakur challenged the MLA to name a single internationally recognized university in PoJK. “Can he tell me about the condition of roads there? In contrast, we have a total of 11 universities here,” he added.
He emphasized that the Government has carried out more development in recent years than what had been done in the past 70 years, all while maintaining peace. “Unfortunately, in the ongoing budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Pakistan is being glorified,” he said.
He accused the National Conference of aligning with Pakistan’s agenda and tarnishing the Assembly’s integrity. “Supporting a country that sponsors terrorism, advocating for Pakistan, and comparing it with Jammu and Kashmir is completely unacceptable. We strongly condemn this,” he said.
He alleged that the National Conference had won votes on promises of development but, after failing on all fronts, was now manipulating emotions by praising Pakistan. “Mir Saifullah lives in Kashmir, an integral part of India, yet he speaks in favor of PoJK, which was forcibly taken by Pakistan. In PoJK, a kilogram of flour costs Rs 280. Do you want to bring back guns and violence to Kashmir? Are you openly suggesting that people should go to PoJK and bring weapons here?” he questioned.
