Thai delegation offers robes to monks

LEH, Oct 20: Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) here organised the 6th Katthina Civara Dana ceremony at Dewachan campus today.
A handout stated that Royal Government of Thailand had started the ceremony at Jetavana Monastery in MIMC Devachan Campus in 2014 and since then Thai delegation is visiting Ladakh to perform the same in the month of October.
Thailand delegation including monks attended the ceremony and offered robes, food, donation and other necessities to Sangha members of Mahabodhi Jetavana monastery.
On this occasion Thai delegation member Patha Johnston said that Katthina robe presentation ceremony is a merit making tradition among Buddhists being practiced regularly since the times of Buddha.
He also said that in Thailand, the offering of Khattina robe to monks is considered as the biggest merit making and most of the Thai people look for an opportunity to do so.
Speaking on the occasion Bikhu Sangasena expressed gratitude to Thailand delegation for attending the ceremony continuously for the last six years in Ladakh which will be inspiration and encouragement to the faithful Buddha Dhamma followers in Himalayan region.
Later MIMC member also offered donation to Thai monks and Monks offered prayer for world peace and rang Shanti bell.
