JAMMU, Jan 10: A deputation of Tourism Federation Jammu (TFJ) led by its vice-chairman Kiran Wattal today called on Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and urged him to start tour buses to the Suchetgarh border outpost and prominent religious to promote tourism in the border-belt.
As Suchetgarh outpost is situated just close to the International Border, Wattal called upon Dulloo to develop it as a major tourist attraction in J&K on the pattern of Wagah border in Amritsar, Punjab.
“If the tour buses are made available outside the railway station and the airport, the visitors can be wooed to make a visit to Suchetgarh. This way, we can develop it into a major tourist attraction in the UT,” he said.
He also demanded tour buses for the Jammu’s prominent religious places including Bawe Wali Mata temple, the pre-historic Peer Kho, Purmandal ‘teerth sthali’, famous lakes of Mansar & Sruinsar and Kol Kandoli on old Katra track.
Before meeting the chief secretary, the TFJ members had a detailed discussion with federation chairman Rajesh Gupta over a variety of issues concerning the travel industry of J&K.
Wattal discussed all these issues with Dulloo, covering several important points, including overall development of infrastructure, buses for pilgrimage sector, day tour buses for Suchetgarh border and an easier and hassle-free process to issue NOCs to hoteliers.
The federation members emphasized the need for development of infrastructure to attract more tourists to the region. They also requested that the process of issuance of NOCs to hoteliers be made easier and hassle-free to encourage more investment in tourism sector.
Dulloo gave a patient hearing to Wattal and the other TFJ members accompanying him, and assured them that their concerns would be addressed.
On the occasion, the delegation members also presented Dulloo a photograph of the naturally formed Ice-Shivalingam of Baba Amarnathji.
The delegation comprised of TFJ vice-president Abhay Bakaya, Federation’s advisory board member Anil Gupta and president of Jammu Association of Tour Operators, Amrik Singh.
