Tension after cremation ground land re-grabbed

MENDHAR, June 26: Tension gripped Ari village of Mendhar in district Poonch today after a local re-grabbed nearly 12 kanal land of a cremation ground of minority community.
This land had got vacated hardly three days back with the intervention of police after they rushed there at the village to defuse communal tension. One Sarfraz Ahmed, son of Mohd Bashir, resident of Ari allegedly raised fencing and grabbed nearly 12 kanals of the cremation ground land. The members from the minority community assembled at the site and raised objection but he continued his work with the support of some others.
Later, president SD Sabha Mendhar Satish Sharma, members of Bajrang Dal, VHP and RSS from Mendhar town also reached at the village. Tension gripped the area again over this issue. Later, Police party led by SHO Mendhar reached there. The minority community raised slogans against local administration and Tehsildar Mendhar. They alleged that this land has been re-grabbed with the connivance of the concerned Revenue officials. They said it was nearly 35 kanals of cremation ground land for the mast many decades at Ari village and some majority community people were supporting this illegal move. Later, on the directions of DC Poonch the land was again cleared and an FIR was registered by police against land grabber who is a PHE worker. Later, the tension was defused.
