SRINAGAR : Protests broke out at Baltal, base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine, after a tent walla was injured when he was allegedly beaten up by some workers of a langar walla. The trouble started when a tent walla Naib Khan, a resident of Kupwara, was allegedly beaten up by some workers of a langar walla at Baltal.
Khan was provided first aid before being referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), they said adding this morning tent and horse wallas staged a protest demanding action against the workers of langar walla. However, security forces and state police personnel resorted to lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators, who pelted stones. Situation was tense, they said adding senior civil and police officials have rushed to the spot to restore normalcy. However, the yatris are safe and pilgrimage was going on smoothly, they said.
