Srinagar, May 17: Temporary teachers of Kashmir Division today staged a protest here seeking regularisation and continuation of their services.
The teachers who assembled at press enclave in city centre were carrying placards and banners which read ‘save youth save nation” and ‘fulfil promises’.
The protesting teachers said in year 2014, nearly 3000 highly qualified temporary teachers were engaged under Cabinet order number 482 of 2014 by the Government to improve the standards of education and deputed them across the Valley but discontinuation of their services has rendered them jobless.
“Government had assured us that we will be regularized along with 61,000 dailywage and adhoc employees but then they dropped us from that list,” they said. The protesting teachers later attempted to march towards Civil Secretariat but were detained by police.
