JAMMU, May 5: A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in Akhnoor area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, the girl identified as Sukhmeet Kour (17) daughter of Amrik Singh, a resident of Akhnoor, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence yesterday following which she was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she expired today at about 5.35 am.
“After completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said, adding a case in this connection was registered at police station Akhnoor and further investigations were underway.
