SRINAGAR, May 31: Srinagar Police today solved Batamaloo blind murder case in which a man was stabbed to death, stating that the accused has been apprehended.
Addressing the media at a press conference here, Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Sikarwar revealed that the victim was identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat and that the accused, a teenager, committed the crime due to the victim’s disapproval of his relationship with the accused’s daughter.
“After the incident occurred yesterday evening, we immediately registered a case under FIR number 67 and initiated an investigation,” stated Sikarwar. He further mentioned that the police analyzed CCTV footage, leading them to identify several suspects.

One of the suspects was singled out and subjected to questioning, during which he confessed to the crime, he said. “He sought revenge because of his year-long relationship with the deceased’s daughter which was disapproved,” Sikarwar explained.
According to the police, the accused took advantage of a momentary opportunity and attacked the victim with a sharp-edged weapon. The case was promptly cracked within hours while the authorities apprehended the accused at 2:00 am.
“Incriminating evidence, including the blood-stained shirt, trousers, and the knife used in the crime, were seized.”
Notably, the tragic incident took place Tuesday evening in the Batamaloo area of Srinagar, where a 45-year-old man lost his life to a fatal stabbing.
Police later in a statement said that the accused was having a romantic interest in the daughter of the victim and that they will seek him to be treated as an adult. “As he is above 16 years and offence is heinous, petition will be filed in Hon’ble court to treat him as adult as per sec 15 of JJ act 2015.”
