SRINAGAR : Security forces burst teargas shells and also resorted to lathicharge to disperse demonstrators protesting against the police move to arrest local youth for his alleged involvement in stone pelting in Baramulla.
The trouble erupted when a police party went to Palhalan in Baramulla district to arrest a youth, allegedly involved in stone pelting in the area. However, people, mostly youths and women, took to the streets and prevented police to arrest him.
Security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicahrge to disperse the demonstrators, who were regrouping again continued pelting stones on security forces.
Additional security forces and police personnel were rushed to the area to prevent demonstrators from blocking the Srinagar-Baramulla road. (AGENCIES)
