KATHUA, June 12: Teachers today held a protest dharna in the office of Chief Education Officer, Kathua demanding release of their salary pending for last five months.
A large number of teachers under the umbrella of United School Teachers Association (USTA) gathered at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park here and later under the leadership of Dr Shashi Paul Singh, district president, USTA, marched in rally to the office of Chief Education Officer Kathua and staged a day-long protest in front of the Office.
Addressing the protestors, provincial president, Hari Singh, strongly castifgated the State Government for inflicting innumerable economic hardships upon the teachers due to non-release of their salaries pending for last five months.
He also called upon the authorities to immediately concede their other pending demands like adjustment of all newly promoted masters and lecturers, transfer policy for regularized ReT teachers, removal of pay anomalies in respect of undergraduate teachers, repatriation of lecturers and masters who have completed their tenure out of district, etc.
Prominent among those who addressed were general secretary of the Association, Rajeev Kumar, Sewa Ram, Julafkar, Ali Maliq, Kishori Lal, Yash Pal, Rattan Singh, Sham Lal, Sukhdev Singh, Hans Raj Shastri and Madan Singh.
