A large numbers of teachers assembled near Press Club Jammu and staged protest demonstration amidst raising of slogans in support of their demands. Teachers Forum, JKSSA Teacher Forum, All Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Teachers Federation, School Education Employees Co-ordination Committee, All Teachers Association J&K and Teachers Welfare Association, respectively.
They were demanding implementation of 7th Pay Commission in favour of Teachers /Masters and Headmasters working under SSA IRMSA, regular release of salary under SSA/RMSA by de-linking it from Central funds and linking with State budget.
They were also demanding suitable transfer of Masters/Lecturers and Headmasters who have completed their tenures in far flung areas, removal of pay anomalies in Masters and Under Graduate Teacher’s grade, regularization of all Lecturers’, Headmaster and Principals working in their own pay and grade besides implement of old pension scheme in favour of teachers and employees appointed on or after 1-1-2010.
While addressing the protesters, speakers strongly condemned the State Government for its lackadaisical, discriminatory and non-serious attitude towards the teachings community in general and teachers working under SSA and RMSA in particular. “It is highly deplorable and very unfortunate that the State Government did not implement 7th Pay Commission in favour of a big section of permanent Government Teachers, Masters and Headmasters working under SSA/ RMSA schemes,” they said and added that denial of such benefits on one pretext or the other is not only discriminatory but against the principals of equal pay for equal work and it cannot be acceptable at any cost.
Urging the Governor’s administration to concede their genuine demands at an earliest, the Coordination Committee leader warned that the teaching fraternity would be compelled to hit the roads in coming days if no action is taken on their demand.
