Teachers Forum holds convention, highlights demands

JAMMU, Apr 10: One day session of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum was held here today under the chairmanship of Abdul Qayoom Wani for highlighting various issues of the teachers and the Education department.
In the session, which was attended all the district and zonal office bearers of Jammu province, the Forum passed several resolutions, which include a CBI probe to fix responsibility for the zero enrollment in 150 schools and extending all support to the Government for ensuring a corruption and political interference free new transfer policy in the Department.
The Forum also expressed its serious concern over the unprecedented delay in release of salary of the teachers under SSA and RMSA. A decision was taken to hold a State wide protest on April 21 for release of salary of these teachers, whose families have reached at the verge of starvation.
The Forum also highlighted some other issues, which included filling up of vacant post of the Teachers/ Masters/ Lecturers/ and others in the Education Department, revocation of order barring ReTs from examination duties and a probe into out of turn adjustment of some newly promoted Masters last year.
While addressing the session, Abdul Qayoom Wani and Ganesh Khajuria appealed the teaching community to work with zeal and zest for the upliftment of educational standard in the State. They also appealed the Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Education Minister Naeem Akhter to take personal interest in solving the issues pertaining to the teaching community.
Those who attended the session, included Rajinder Gupta, Gopal Singh, Surat Singh Tufani, Jamayat Ali Aga, Darshan Sharma, Ravinder Singh, Gopal Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Subash Sharma, Shankar Singh and others.
