JAMMU, Sept 5: Different organisations here today celebrated Teachers Day and paid rich tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan-renowned educationist and first Vice President of India.
Teachers Day was celebrated at IIMC Jammu. Former CUJ Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ashok Aima and renowned mathematician, Prof. Veda Nand Jha were invited guests. Prof. Aima while speaking on ‘How to be a good teacher’ said that one may enter the teaching world as an ordinary teacher but must not exit as an ordinary teacher. Prof. Jha enumerated some attributes of a good teacher. Prof. Rakesh Kumar Goswami, Regional Director, IIMC, Jammu spoke about the life of former President of India and Bharat Ratna, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan on whose birthday Teachers Day is celebrated.
Teachers Day, the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. Vice Chancellor Prof. R.K Sinha, in his address, termed teachers as beacon lights and nation builders who play pivotal role in shaping life of students. Registrar, SMVDU, Nagendra Singh Jamwal, was also present on the occasion.
A national-level seminar marked the celebration of Teachers Day at University of Kashmir. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nilofer Khan chaired the seminar titled ‘Teachers: Reorienting the Societal Consciousness towards Human Values’, organized by the Department of Education. In her address, Prof. Nilofer focused on changing role of teachers in the context of National Education Policy-2020.
KU’s South Campus held a special event to celebrate Teachers Day. The programme was attended by over 100 participants, including faculty, non-teaching staff, scholars and students from various departments. Director South Campus, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday threw light on importance of the Day.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu celebrated Teachers Day with fervour and gaiety at Baba Jitto Auditorium. Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu was the chief guest. In his address, the VC recalled the immense contributions of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Teachers Day was celebrated with great fervour and exuberance at MIER College of Education and Model Academy. A number of activities ranging from Guru Vandana, group songs, dance performances etc were organized on the occasion. Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson MIER Group in her address appreciated the efforts of all teachers in playing a catalytic role in the holistic development of students.
The Teachers Day was celebrated by the students of Government College of Education Jammu (GCOE).
The program started with Saraswati Vandana and lamp lighting ceremony followed by pledge under Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan launched by the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to make the society free of this menace.
The students exhibited their talent and devotion towards teachers through speeches, poem recitation, dance and musical performances.
Principal of the College Prof Aekta Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion while as RJ Juhi from 92.7 FM was the special guest. On the occasion, Principal of the College emphasized on the student-teacher relationship and positive learning environment for the students.
Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO, motivated the students to be good teachers in future. Prof. Anju Bala, Dr Rajinder Kour, Dr Jyoti Parihar, Prof Shamboo Nath, Prof Shalini Rana, Dr Tahira Shah, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof Sunita Devi, Dr Deep Bangotra Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia Shameem Bhatti, Anuradha Choudhar, Dr Maansi Sharma, Prof Vinay Lata, Dr Shalini Sharma and Dr Anuradha Seth were all present on the occasion.
For celebrating Teachers Day, Dogra Group of Colleges, Bari Brahmana presented a colourful cultural programme. Students recited poems in the honour of teachers and performed skits also. In his presidential remarks Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman Dogra Educational Trust stated that respect for teachers has always been a characteristic feature and a significant tradition of our society.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of former president of India Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organized a colourful programme. In his address, Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna spoke on role of teachers as nation builders. A wide range of activities were also organized on the occasion by the students to express gratitude to their teachers.
Teachers Day was celebrated by the students of Government College of Education Jammu to express their gratitude for the immense contribution put forth by their teachers towards their development. Students presented gifts to each faculty member to show the acknowledgment and recognition of the hard work put by them towards their development. GDC Kunjwani celebrated Teachers Day with zeal and zest. The programme started with welcome of the chief guest, Master (Retired) Gurnam Singh and after this followed speeches and other cultural items by the students.
On Teachers Day, president Rotary Club, Jammu City, Deepali Sharma, honoured Dr. Rakesh Krishan Gupta, Principal Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu for outstanding services provided to the society. Dr. Iqbal Singh, HoD, Public Health Dentistry; Dr. Ankita Gupta, Demonstrator, Public Health Dentistry; Dr. Amita Parihar and Dr. Anu Gandral were also honoured for their contribution to nation building as teachers.
Kotwal National Institute of Teaching celebrated Teachers Day with pomp and show. A colourful cultural programme was organized by the students of to pay respect and gratitude towards their teachers. Prof. J.L Kotwal, Director of the Institute highlighted the importance of teacher in a civilized society.
To celebrate birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production and National College of Computer Education presented musical play ‘Guru Bin Gyan Kahan Se Paun’.
On Teachers Day a function was organised at Institute of Dental Sciences, Sehora. Principal of the College, S. Sarabjeet Singh presided over the function. The programme began with the welcome speech by an intern and red roses were given to all the teachers as a token of respect. This was followed by an innovative inauguration wherein an intern highlighted the role of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and his contributions.
NSS Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College under the guidance of College Principal, Dr. G.S Rakwal, celebrated Teachers Day. A special event was organized by the NSS Unit of the College, which was joined by the faculty as well as the students.

Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur celebrated Teachers Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President of India who went on to become the second President of India.

Enthusiasm and festivity marked the Teachers Day celebrations at Heritage School. A wonderful cultural programme was organized. The celebrations began with cake cutting ceremony. A variety of games were organized for the teachers and they were gifted with bamboo plants, a symbol of longevity and strength.
Alexander Memorial Higher Secondary School, Jammu organized a colourful function to mark Teachers Day. The students of class 10th managed the classes and played the role of teachers. Students presented songs and dances for the entertainment of their teachers.
Teachers Day was celebrated with fervour across Doda district. The main function was organized at Government HSS Boys Doda. Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan was the chief guest on the occasion whereas ADC Doda, R.K Bharti and ASP Doda, Master Popsy were guests of honour. CEO Doda Prahlad Bhagat in his address congratulated the teaching fraternity on Teachers Day.
Teachers Day was celebrated at Mantaqui Waqf Higher Secondary School, Awantipora wherein a day long function was organized. Many cultural programmes, sports and speech events remained part of the celebrations in which the importance of a teacher in society was highlighted. Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi also participated in celebrations.
To mark Teachers Day celebratuibs, a function was organized at GHSS (Boys) Kathua. CEO Kathua graced the occasion as chief guest while DEPO Kathua was guest of honour. Both the guests paid floral tributes to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
GHSS Chiralla celebrated Teachers Day with great enthusiasm. Hem Raj Chalotra, Principal of the institution graced the function as chief guest. A variety of cultural programmes were organized on the occasion.
Unique Public Senior Secondary School, Gadi Garh celebrated Teachers Day. The event began with a welcome speech, followed by cultural items. A comic skit was also performed, emphasizing the role of teachers.
The main function of Teachers Day in district Udhampur was held at Shaheed Inspector Kamal Singh Higher Secondary School (Boys) in which chief guest was Joint Director School Education Udhampur-Reasi Range, Dhirendra Sharma and CEO Udhampur, Arvin Kumar Koul was guest of honour. In the function, one teacher from each zone was felicitated as best teacher of the zone keeping in view their contributions towards education quality initiatives.
Dewan Devi Playway/Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Mangotrian celebrated Teachers Day with enthusiasm. A special cultural programme was organized by the students in this regard. Dance, music, mimicry and skit made the day explicable.
On Teachers Day, students of National Model Academy, Kail Pardai (Majalta, Udhampur) organized a surprise programme for their teachers. They presented cultural items in the form of dances to show their respect, gratitude and love for their teachers. The senior students were dressed up as teachers and they managed the classes.
Teachers Day was celebrated at Shiv Public Higher Secondary School, Sari Rakwalan, Ghou Manhasan Road (Jammu). Various colourful items were performed and sweets were distributed among teachers and students. The students of higher secondary wing played the role of teachers and took classes.
Dogra Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan as Teachers Day. The day started with morning assembly in which speeches and group songs dedicated to teaching faculty were presented by the students. A team of Bharat Vikas Parishad visited the school and honoured all the teachers. The chief guest of the day was Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Managing Director and he stressed upon the staff to emulate the great teachers and set examples.
Indira Public Higher Secondary School Shant Nagar Janipur along with its Play-way wing celebrated Teachers Day with enthusiasm. Chairman of the Institution, Sanjay Padha along with Principal, Rashu Padha and school management were present on the occasion. Various activities were organised by the pupil-teachers to mesmerise the audience.
IDPS celebrated Teachers Day by organising a function in which a gala celebration for the faculty and staff members of IDPS was organised. The event etched in the heart of everyone present on the occasion. Manisha Choudhary, Chairperson; Suminder Singh and Swarn Choudhary, Managing Directors and others were also present on the occasion.
A function to celebrate Teachers Day was also organized at Government High School Galhan. Sarpanch Vinod Bazal and Inspector Teryath were guests of honour on the occasion. Students presented songs and dances to show their respect towards their teachers.
SD Tara Puri Public High School, Gandhi Nagar celebrated Teachers Day with great fervour and gaiety. Students of class 10th took on the responsibility of teaching as a gratitude to their teachers. A colourful bonanza of cultural programme was presented by the students.
Lord Mahavira Play-way School celebrated Teachers Day with full fervour. A short cultural programme was organized to appreciate the unwavering commitment of teachers for building the nation.
In Tiny Scholars School, Logate Morh (Kathua), ‘Guru Bandan Chhatra Abhinandan’ programme was organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad, to celebrate Teachers Day. A symposium on the topic ‘Teacher-the Nation Builder’ was held on the occasion and students from 11 schools of Kathua participated in it.
Sunrise Public School celebrated Teachers Day and programmes like dance, games etc were presented by the students. Rajesh Sharma, Managing Trustee gave prizes to the meritorious students.
Students of Mother India Sr. Sec. School, R.S Pura celebrated Teachers Day with great zeal and fervour. Students of Class 12th played role of Lecturers and delivered lectures to students of Class 11th. Principal of the School, Sonia Tohra paid tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.
Bal Bharti School Channi Himmat celebrated Teachers Day and the students presented various cultural programmes.
Teachers Day was celebrated with enthusiasm in schools and educational institutions across district Kathua. Many events highlighting significance of a teacher and honouring their works were organized in institutions of the district. The day at the schools started with special assembly and tributes were paid to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President of India and second President of India. P.L Thapa, Chief Education Officer Kathua while speaking on the occasion said contribution to a teacher is unmatchable.
Teachers Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Spring Dales English School Changran, Kathua. The students organised a series of events and presented cultural programmes. Director of the School awarded cash prize of Rs.1000 to students who acted as teachers for the day.

Teachers Day was celebrated at MHSS Ramnagar. Students presented colourful cultural items and threw light on the contributions of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, reputed educationist and first Vice President of India.
National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM) celebrated Teacher Day with pomp and show in collaboration with ICI Coaching Institute branch-B, Ganga Nagar Bantalab. Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director NILM was the chief guest. The students presented colourful cultural programme. Kavita Bali, Managing Director ICI said Teacher Day is a tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.
On Teachers Day, the Rotary Club Jammu Baahu felicitated two excellent teachers and one student of Naveen Shiksha Kendra High School at Channi Himmat, which is being run by Sawera, an NGO. Geeta Swain and Rashmi Sharma, teachers of the School, were honoured for their devotion towards duty. Speaking on the occasion R.D Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that teachers are the builders of the nation.
