Teacher detained for violence at religious place

MENDHAR, Dec 16: A Government teacher was today detained by police after he entered a religious place (mosque) in drunken condition  and created violence.
Official sources said that incident took place at Mankote during this afternoon, when teacher Tahir Iqbal alias Rinku, son of Ex-Sarpanch and NC’s block president  Khadam Hussain, entered the mosque. The people were offering Friday prayer in the Masjid. The eye-witnessed told police that accused teacher started abusing the Moulvi and others at the mosque. As the Molvi objected to his derogatory and abusive remarks, he allegedly beaten up the Moulvi. Upon this other elderly people found that he was in drunken condition and informed police. Some people dragged the teacher out of the religious place and also thrashed him.
The police party from Mankote and later SDPO arrived there  himself. The teacher Tahir was taken into custody and detained. He had sustained minor injury  on neck and was removed to hospital by cops. Later, some family members of  teacher  sat on dharna on Mankote road and held brief  protest however, the police got the road cleared.
SDPO Mendhar, DySP Shahid when contacted said that teacher forcibly entered into the mosque and created violence. He was drunken  and police has taken cognizance of the matter. The accused has been  detained.  He had tried to trigger sectarian clash but police timely acted and prevented the same, the SDPO said.
