Tawi Darshan celebrations start at Shallu Dudu

JAMMU, July 31: Tawi Darshan, which has its religious leanings with Suryaputri, is being celebrated at village Shallu Dudu in Udhampur District.
A handout stated that river Tawi flows all the way from Kapilas Kund in Udhampur to Jammu and onwards.
Cultural Organization PEACE which conceived the idea of Tawi Darshan in 2019 organized this annual event whereas Directorate of Tourism, Jammu sponsored this festival.
Director Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai was chief guest on this occasion whereas CEO, Patnitop Development Authority, Sher Singh; Joint Director Tourism, Natasha Kalsotra; SDM Dudu, Pradip Singh Chib; Dr. Umesh Shan, BDO Dudu; Roohi Khajuria, Sarpanch Dev Raj Bhagat and other were also present on the occasion.
Director Tourism inaugurated the fest along with other guests and performed Abhishek and Puja of Suryaputri amidst chanting of Vedic hymns by Sanskrit Scholars. Cultural items were also presented by the folk groups of Udhampur.
Later on, an oath was also taken by the participants to save water and maintain cleanliness of river Suryaputri.
Speaking on the occasion Director Tourism said: “Tawi, also known as Surya Putri and is a symbol of identity for the people of Jammu region,”
Welcoming the guests and local public, president PEACE, Narinder Sharma demanded construction of Ghats in Shallu village so that religious tourists can be facilitated to perform Abhishek and Puja on the bank of Suryaputri.
