Sir,
The restoration work of the fourth Tawi bridge was started in June 2016 by the JKPCC /ERA and it was expected to be completed within 40 days.
This vital bridge in Jammu City connects Bhagwati Nagar area with the Bikram Chowk-Satwari road and its objective was to dilute the traffic load on Canal road, Talab Till area.
A portion of the approach road and its embankment of750-meter long got washed away twice in flash floods in 2014 and June 2016.
This bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 147 crore and thrown open for traffic in May,2013, The bridge had remained closed for a month in 2014 and it was thrown open for traffic only after temporary repair of the damaged portion. Again the bridge was closed for traffic for 3-4 months and reopened for one-way traffic in September this year . The Government had been under attack over frequent traffic snarls in Jammu city due to closure of the important bridge for over three months. It was assumed that sub-standard material in the construction of the bridge. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had ordered an inquiry into the construction of the poor structure whose portions had collapsed twice during floods
“The enquiry committee meant for exploring the facts will kill the time and shall remain under cloud like other many ongoing enquiries and die with passage of time.
Eight months have been passed but slow pace of work at site compells every layman to state that at least one more year is required to get it be completed. If you observe at site the traffic load, you will admit that public is in trouble.
The Govt should really feel in length that those who have committed mistakes/blunders or have amassed wealth as corruption are enjoying and common public who have been paying taxes for development works , is reeling under very very slow pace of execution.
The authorities of concerned department should wake up and gear up the momentum.
Yours etc….
