JAMMU, Sept 3: Strongly advocating for resumption of Indo-Pak foreign secretary level talks CPI (M) today said that the dialogue was the only way to solve all bilateral issues.
Dialogue is the only way out to solve all bilateral issues between the two countries, CPI (M) State secretary and MLA Kulgam, Mohammed Yousf Tarigami told reporters here today.
He said the issue of cease fire violation could have been taken up with Pakistan during the foreign secretary level meeting and Pakistan could have been cornered then and there.
The CPI(M) today called for resumption of talks between India and Pakistan and said the country should not give an impression that it does not want to hold dialogue with its neighbour.
“India should not give an impression that it does not want to hold dialogue with Pak, which is seeking talks with this country’’, he said, adding the dialogue should be resumed immediately for betterment of the relations.”,
Cancellation of talks is not good for credibility and prestige of India, the senior Jammu & Kashmir CPI(M) leader said.
Terming New Delhi argument for calling off the Foreign Secretary level talks as “vague”, he said “I am not satisfied with the reason for calling off of talks”.
“Talks are held to resolve the issue, disputes, differences by sitting across the table and resolving them. If Government of India (GOI) felt that there was some reason for calling of the talks, it was better to hold talks and tell them”, he said.
Regarding the ceasefire violations, firing and shelling that destroyed the border houses and killed and injured people on the Jammu border, he said “Government of India and State Government should jointly relocate and rehabilitate border people to safer zones always, from firing and shelling by giving them plots and money to set up some dwelling units”.
“Time and again border people face brunt of Pak firing shelling and migration. So it is time that they need to be rehabilitated to safe zones. You cannot let them die every time”, he said.
On the issue of polarisation in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of elections, he alleged “some people in parties are out to polarize the Jammu and Kashmir on communal lines and this is dangerous. It will damage the social fabric”, he added.
