JAMMU, Aug 5: Jhajjar Kotli police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ apprehended a tanker driver and recovered 190 kilograms of poppy husk from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station laid a naka near Suketar and signaled a mini milk tanker bearing registration number PB31A-7766 to stop for checking.
During checking, police recovered 190 kilograms of poppy husk concealed in 19 plastic bags from the vehicle and arrested the tanker driver.
The accused has been identified as Bikkar Singh, son of Jagrop Singh, a resident of Ramgarh Sandhuan, District Sangroor, Punjab.
With his arrest, police foiled the bid of the accused to smuggle the consignment to Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 76/18 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Ajay Singh Chib made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Yashvir Singh Slathia, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
