ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain has said Tamgha-i-Shujaat (Medal of bravery) would be conferred on 145 students and staff members of the Army Public School in Peshawar, who were killed in a terrorist attack on December 16, last year.
“A meeting chaired by the president had decided that the civil award would be conferred on the principal, teachers, other staffers and students of the school who were killed by the terrorists,” an official said.
A civilian and those injured in the attack would also be awarded, the official said.
Tamgha-i-Shujaat would also be conferred on a policeman killed while intercepting a suicide bomber at the gate of the Peshawar Press Club in December 2009. The club was the target of a suicide bombing which killed three people.
