Talk on Gender Sensitization held

JAMMU, Oct 30: Department of Computer Science & IT of Jammu University here today organized an invited talk on ‘Gender Sensitization: Legal perspective in the wake of present scenario’.
The talk was organized for the general awareness of the students of MCA and M. Tech where Dr. Monica Narang, Senior Assistant Professor, Law School, University of Jammu was the resource person.
Dr. Narang in her talk discussed about many woman-oriented legislations such as the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.
She also spoke about the initiative taken by the University of Jammu with regard to prevention of sexual harassment in the university.
Earlier, Dr. Pawanesh Abrol, Professor, Dept of CS & IT welcomed the resource person and introduced her to the audience.
Prof. Lalit Sen Sharma, Head, Department of Computer Sc. & IT in his remarks emphasised the need of awareness among the students about the legal perspective of the various issues related to the gender discrimination.
