JAMMU, June 6: Residents as well as traders of Talab Tillo today staged a protest over poor quality works being done in their area under Jammu Smart City Project.
Holding banners and placards in their hands, a large number of traders and inhabitants of Talab Tillo came on road and raised slogans against authorities of Jammu Smart City Project. They alleged that quality of the developmental works being done under Smart City project is not up to the mark.
The protesting people said that firstly drain work was started from Gurudwara which was abandoned and later it was started from Bee Enn Hospital and after doing some work, it was also abandoned. They said they way, developmental works are being done, are causing problems to the local inhabitants, traders as well as commuters.
“Similarly, when the canal work was started, it was agreed to construct stairs or slopes on the edges of the canal but neither the stairs nor the slopes are visible along the canal,” they said adding, such a canal is of what use for the people living nearby it.
They further said that due to canal work, land along it has caved in many areas, as a result of which the electric poles have bowed down. “Electric cables are hanging very low and on every other day, these are broken by the trucks plying on the road and people of the area have to suffer without power for many hours,” they added.
The protesting people demanded the concerned authorities to ensure that the people do not suffer due to ongoing developmental works in the area.
