Take stringent action against those indulging in power thefts: Hirdesh

JAMMU, Nov 7: Commissi-oner / Secretary, JKPDD, Hirdesh Kumar today convened a meeting to review the revenue realization progress and the winter preparedness plan in Jammu region.
Chief Engineer EMRE Wing Jammu Sudhir Gupta, Chief Engineer S&O Wing Jammu Gurmeet Singh, SEs of different circles, namely Karamchand, Bavinder Kundal, Sandeep Seth,Vinod Gandotra, Nodal Officer Sanjay Sharma and Executive Engineers also attended the meeting.
At the outset, Nodal Officer gave power point presentation briefing the division wise revenue achievement ending October 2019, which revealed that all the EMRE Divisions have yielded positive/ increased revenue over corresponding period of last year.
However, even as the amount realized as power revenue for the entire wing has increased by 8.38% over last year, it is still short of the total target fixed for the Region. As such, Hirdesh called for adopting an expeditious approach while redoubling the efforts towards revenue realization so as to achieve the desired target.
Further, Hirdesh directed the officers to take proactive measures to prevent power theft and distribution losses. He added that stringent action be taken against those indulging in power thefts, including lodging of FIRs as mandated under law.
He also directed the concerned to identify the consumers having large power bill arrears and immediately disconnect the power supply to their premises. He further directed the officers to take fortnightly review of revenue realization at the level of meter readers against the targets assigned to each of them and action be taken against non performers.
The meeting further progressed with assessment of winter preparedness plan of the Department. Sufficient buffer stock/ reserve of line material and distribution transformers is being maintained to meet the expected demand in the winter season, particularly in Districts of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban.
Another key point of discussion during the meeting was segregation of agricultural feeders whereby the agricultural load will be separated from the local load. Hirdesh directed the engineers to formulate an action plan in this regard.
