Take measures in rain hit areas: Khatana

JAMMU, Mar 31: Ch Nazakat Khatana, president, JK Gujjar-Bakerwal Youth Body  said that the recent heavy rainfall has hit the normal life of the people  especially Gujjar and Bakerwal community.
Addressing a press conference, Khatana said that  the worst flash floods and landslides have made the life of the people miserable. Incessant rainfall triggered flood fears causing destruction to public and private properties in several areas again including the ones that were worst-hit areas in the devastating floods of last September.
He urged the State Government to take effective measures for minimizing the possible damage by the incessant rains. He also said that there is a need to strengthen bunds, de-silt flood channels and other alternate sources in order to tackle the situation.
Others persons present included Abdul Ghani, Ch Hashim Din, Ch Junaid, Sjad Ahmed, Mohd Latif, Babu Pojwala and Ch Fayaz.
