KATRA, Mar 13: A joint delegation of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra (HRAK) and PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Jammu Region (PHDCCI) led by president HRAK and co-chairman PHDCCI Rakesh Wazir met new Deputy Commissioner, Reasi and Vice Chairman of Shiv Khori Shrine Board, Indu Kanwal Chib and stressed for taking effective steps to enhance Shiv Khori Yatra.
The delegation also comprising HRAK chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, former president Shiv Kumar Sharma, senior vice president HRAK and Katra Head PHDCCI Virender Kesar, general secretary HRAK Kuldeep Dubey and secretary Sudershan Sharma emphasized the DC that Shiv Khori is such a place in the J&K which besides Vaishnodevi ji has got the potential of attracting 50 lakh pilgrims within 2-3 years provided that best services are given to the pilgrims.
The members of the delegation impressed upon the Vice Chairman of the Shrine to start Helicopter service between Katra to Shiv Khori and back, early start of Rope way at Shiv Khori, installation of Shiv Khori Boards on route of Katra to Bhawan and the hoardings from Jammu to Katra and Udhampur to Katra.
Wazir while speaking on the occasion emphasized for starting pre-paid counters for Autos, Ponies, Pithus and Palki Walas at different points at Katra including Baan Ganga, Bus Stand, Railway Station in real sense and not as formality. He said that thorough check on Traffic Police is required so that they may not harass the tourists/pilgrims coming to Shiv Khori/Vaishnodevi.
Kesar said that worth Rs 10 crore separate water scheme, already sanctioned for hotels at Katra, be started at the earliest. He emphasized for early completion of road between main Railway Chowk to Nadali via new Bus Stand besides developing the places of pilgrim/tourist interest around Katra including Dhansar Baba, Nau Devian, Sear Baba, Sula Park, Devi ki Pindian etc. He said that light & sound show at Reasi Fort, already in the pipe line, be started at the earliest.
Indu Kanwal Chib listened to the delegation patiently and assured that sympathetic consideration would be made to each and every point referred in the discussion.
