KISHTWAR, Nov 29: People’s Democratic Party, Member Legislative Council (MLC) Firdous Tak, distributed scooties among the disabled persons at district Social Welfare office here today.
On this occasion, the MLC was accompanied by the District Social Welfare Officer, Phulail Singh and other officers besides a large number of people of the area.
Mr Tak while handing over the scooties to the beneficiaries said that people should come forward from all walks of life especially the downtrodden for taking benefits of the social welfare and other schemes run by the Central and State Government for their upliftment.
He said that it is endeavour of the present Government led by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to uplift and transform the socio-economic profile of disabled, poor, backward, destitute and downtrodden people and to provide them equal opportunities to progress in the society.
PDP leader said that, the State Government has initiated various welfare schemes. The distribution of scooties and other financial assistance is a part of implementation of these schemes. He called upon the people to maintain close liaison with the Department of Social Welfare to avail the benefits of these schemes.
He further directed the officers of the concerned departments to create awareness among the people about these schemes.
Tak apprised that scooties have been provided to the beneficiary who are handicapped with more than 40% physical deformity and feel difficulty in moving from one place to another place.
