Srinagar, July 6: In order to encourage and promote academic collaboration between the University of Kashmir and various other institutions of higher learning and research in Switzerland Dr. Linus Von Castelmur, Ambassador of Switzerland to India today visited the University of Kashmir and discussed several important issues focusing on mutual cooperation for the promotion of academic excellence in areas of research and faculty/ student exchange programs and scholarships for the students of the University of Kashmir. Dr. Linus Von Castelmur, the Swiss Ambassador said, “We are here to act as facilitators and explore opportunities in areas of academic collaboration on mutual cooperation for the promotion of academic excellence in areas of research and faculty/ student exchange programs and scholarships for the students of the University of Kashmir.” The Ambassador said, “It is very important to first identify the institutions on both sides which have common areas of interest and then work together in resolving various issues /problems of scientific in nature so that the society as a whole gets benefitted from this meaningful collaboration.” Dr Castelmur added that the Swiss embassy will provide a platform to the University of Kashmir and other higher institutions of learning of Switzerland to come together so as to share their resources and expertise on various research projects . Dean Academic Affairs Prof AM Shah said that University of Kashmir and the Universities in Switzerland should encourage/support faculty exchange program that are mutually beneficial and helpful for faculty members and scholarships for our students. Later, the Ambassador visited several departments and centres of KU including the various divisions of Allama Iqbal Library, Department of Biotechnology and the business school during which he interacted with the faculty members, scholars and the students.
