‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ celebrated at Lam

NOWSHERA, June 3: As the year 2021 completes, 50 years of victory in 1971 war, in order to commemorate the sacrifices of the citizens of the country ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ was initiated by Indian Army with Prime Minister Narendra Modi lighting the victory torch and sending the flames in four cardinal directions.
On Jun 2, 2021 the victory flame arrived at Lam Rashtriya Rifles unit. For the indomitable spirit displayed by the residents of Shaheedgarh, Lam, Rashtriya Rifles had rightfully brought down this victory flame over the holy ground of `Shaheedgarh War Memorial’ amongst the people residing in border areas of Lam and Qila Darhal.
The confluence of two historical episodes of Shaheedgarh War Memorial uniting with 1971 Victory Flame, commemorated and reignited the achievements of the martyrs in the region. The event was attended by DC Rajouri Rajesh Shavan, SSP Rajouri Sheema Qasba Nabi and other civil administration heads. The event was celebrated with much of pomp and show inclusive of participation of locals in the event for respect of the supreme sacrifices made by their ancestors. The event reminded the entire nation of the stories of unbridled courage and valour which exists in Lam valley till date and continues to motivate generation to come about the selfless love rendered to the motherland.
Wreath laying ceremony was conducted paying homage to the victory flame and the immortal souls of 1971 war who evicted the renegades. The speeches by war veterans residing in Shaheed garh and Lam were full of patriotic emotions filled with anecdotes of time immemorial of the days of year 1971. They thanked the the Rashtriya Rifles to be so considerate in initiating an unique decision of getting the victory flames to Shaheedgarh.
