SAMBA, May 15: Vice Chairperson of J&K State Advisory Board for the Welfare and Development of Scheduled Castes, Swarn Lata today visited Daboh and adjoining village in Samba district and addressed a public meeting there.
Accompanied by Kumer Singh, Congress Block President, Samba, Swarn Lata also interacted with the locals who apprised her of their grievances and demands. People demanded fresh BPL survey for including poor and deserving people. They rued that the village in spite of being covered under Model Village scheme has bad condition of roads and lanes. People also conveyed their resentment against the notice issued by the District administration against repair or construction of houses, wells etc in the village due to the presence of the Army Ammunition Depot.
After listening to the demands and grievances, Swarn Lata assured that the J&K State Advisory Board for the Welfare & Development of Scheduled Castes would make all efforts to redress the problem of the common masses. She further assured to take up all the genuine points raised by the public with the concerned departments for addressing the grievances. She intimated on spot that matter regarding Ammunition Depot had already been taken up with the Chief Minister as well as Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
While addressing the public meeting, Swarn Lata and Kumer Singh asked people to strengthen Congress party which was going to form next Government in Jammu Kashmir on its own. Others who addressed the public meeting, included Janak Raj, Master Dass Ram, Amar Nath, Som Nath, Panch Garu Ram and Dev Raj.
