SRINAGAR, May 15: Speaker, Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul while constituting the Financial and other Committees of the House has expressed his optimism that the Committees of the House will come to the expectation of the people of the State and the Chairmen of the Committees will make their functioning expeditious, meaningful, effective and result oriented.
He further said that in order to ensure transparency and accountability of the executive, the Committees play a pivotal role. He said that the Committees will start their functioning immediately and Assembly Secretariat will provide all Secretarial assistance to the Chairmen of the respective Committees for making their functioning more effective.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Secretariat issued notifications regarding the constitution of the Financial and other Committees of the House for the year 2013-14.
These Committees include the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC), the Committee on Public Undertaking (PUC), the Committee on Estimates (EC), the Committee on Petitions (PC), the Committee on Privileges, the Committee on Subordinate Legislation (SLC), the Committee on Government Assurances, the Rules Committee (RC), the House Committee, the Library Committee, the General Purpose Committee (GPC), the Ethics Committee and the Committee on Environment.
Muzaffar Hussain Baig has been nominated as Chairman of PAC, Mohammad Sharief Niaz for PUC, Dr. Mustafa Kamaal for EC, Ashok Kumar for PC, Mohammad Irfan Shah for Committee on Privileges, Abdul Haq Khan for Committee on Subordinate Legislation, Mohd. Ashraf Ganai for Committee on Government Assurances, Aijaz Ahmed Jan for Ethics Committee and M. Y. Tarigami for Committee on Environment while as Speaker will be ex-officio Chairman of Rules Committee, House Committee, Library Committee and General Purpose Committee.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, Abdul Gani Malik, G.M. Saroori, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Nasir Aslam Wani, Balwant Singh Mankotia, Mohammad Irfan Shah, Ch. Zulfkar Ali and Krishan Chander have been nominated Members of PAC, while as Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Javaid Ahmed Dar, Rachpaul Singh, Jagdish Raj Spolia, Jugal Kishor, Peer Afaq Ahmed, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Dr. Shafi Ahmed Wani, Indu Pawar and Er. Abdul Rashid have been nominated as Members of PUC.
Ch. Mohammad Aslam, Surjit Singh Slathia, Harshdev Singh, Mohammad Yaseen Shah, Ashok Khajuria, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Bimla Luthra, Nizzam-ud-Din Bhat, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain and Charanjit Singh as Members of EC.
Bimla Luthra, Dr. Shafi Ahmed Wani, Sukhnandan Kumar, Zahoor Ahmed Mir, Durga Dass, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Baldev Raj, Shyam Lal Choudhary and Abdul Razak Wagay as Members of PC.
