JAMMU, June 20: Provincial President National Conference Jammu Devender Singh Rana today complimented Swaniti, a reputed not-for-profit organization of the country, for carrying out comprehensive analysis of Nagrota Assembly Constituency, which is envisioned to be developed as ‘Island of Excellence’, and said the initiative will go long way in building up appropriate strategy to achieve the objective through non-governmental interventions.
Interacting with Swaniti team, Mr Rana, who represents Nagrota constituency in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, said the feedback and inputs they have got from the stakeholders and general public in the constituency will go a long way to prioritise the schemes as per local needs.
“People’s participation in fixing priorities and being partners in the development process is imperative to bring about desired transformation”, he said, hoping that he will be able to translate his vision with the active cooperation of the people. He said overall development of the entire constituency is top on his agenda and this will be achieved in a phased manner.
The team members apprised Mr Rana that Swaniti Initiative is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization, which focuses on delivering development solutions across the country by working directly with elected representatives of the people. Since its inception, it has worked with over 90 MPs across 18 states – and assisted them through knowledge and research inputs besides support in the implementation of development works in the constituency. In the past, Swaniti has worked in the areas of agriculture, health, education, livelihoods and gender, they added.
Mr Rana appreciated the tireless work put in by Baidhurya Mani and Utkarsha Bhardwaj from Swaniti Initiative and exuded the hope that the organization will suggest relevant interventions and catalyze development.
“This is the first time that Swaniti is working in Jammu & Kashmir and we expect to replicate its success stories in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency as well”, the team members informed the Provincial President.
