SVO books Revenue official for land fraud in Jammu

JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today booked a Revenue Official for issuing “fake and fraudulent” revenue extracts to an impersonator of a deceased person here.

A case has been registered against Shabir Ahmed Gorsi following a verification conducted by the vigilance organisation, an SVO spokesperson said.

A complaint was filed by Rajinder Singh, Beant Singh and Harcharan Singh alleging the accused of issuing fake revenue extract of their late father’s land, situated in Deeli Tehsil area, to someone else.

The verification has found that Mian Singh, who died in 1998, had occupancy rights of the above mentioned land, measuring 10 marlas. Soon after his death, someone else in league with the accused officer issued revenue extract in his favour, the spokesperson said.

The impersonator later with the help of Gorsi sold the land to Shereen Khan and Rajni Bala Mehta before the Registrar here in February 2012, having Paramvir Singh and Mahinder Pal Singh as the witness, he said.

The Vigilance Organisation has registered a case against him on the basis of prima facie establishment of offences on the part of Gorsi and others, he said. (AGENCIES)
