JAMMU, Mar 1: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today arrested four officials of the Education Department of Dangerpora Zone in Sopore area of Kashmir valley for misappropriation of the Government funds.
The arrested officials have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Wani, then ZEO Dangerpora, Sopore, Mehraj-ud-Din Shawl, then Zonal Education Planning Officer, Dangerpora, Ali Mohammad Mushki, then Headmaster, Government Middle School, Rajpora, Sopore and Zahoor Ahmad Shah, teacher, Government Middle School, Rajpora.
However, Rifat Ara, then Junior Assistant, ZEO Office, Dangerpora, who has also been named as accused in the FIR by the Vigilance Organization, was not arrested, an official handout issued by the SVO said.
The release said the Vigilance Organization had conducted Joint Surprise Check into the allegations of misappropriation of Government money by opening account by fraudulent means in Education Zone Dangerpora, Sopore, which revealed that an amount of Rs 23.19 lakh had been released and withdrawn from the Government accounts against allotted cost of Rs 9.99 lakh for construction of three-room school building under SSA in the premises of Government Middle School Rajpora during 2012-13.
“The excess drawn amount to the tune of Rs 13.2 lakh had been misappropriated by the officers/officials of Education Zone Dangerpora, Sopore by abusing their official position and hatching criminal conspiracy between themselves.
