JAMMU, Feb 5: For the first time since its inception, the whole State Vigilance Commission visited the Vigilance Organization J&K, Jammu, and took a review meeting for examining progress of the cases under investigation in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts.
FIR cases, verifications, preliminary enquiries and joint surprise checks, being investigated and enquired into by the Vigilance Organization, were reviewed in the meeting, held yesterday.
In the course of meeting 36 FIR cases, 152 verifications, 12 PEs and 17 JSCs pertaining to Jammu branch and 14 FIR cases, 36 verifications, 2 PEs and 2 JSCs pertaining to Samba Kathua branch were discussed. The decisions taken in the previous meeting held on January 28 this year, were also reviewed.
During the meeting, the Chief Vigilance Commissioner Kuldeep Khoda stressed that Supervisory Officers/ Prosecution Wing of the Vigilance Organization should formulate a plan of action for IOs which must be strictly adhered to in a time bound manner while conducting investigation of FIR cases, verifications, PEs and JSCs. It was also stressed that Vigilance Officers should ensure focused and quality investigations backed by legally tenable evidence and all old pending cases should be disposed off in the shortest possible time. While ensuring that honest and dedicated officers are not harassed, all the corrupt Government servants should be brought to book by the efforts of the Commission/Organization so that the common masses repose faith and trust in the working of the anti-corruption organization and come forward to report instances of corruption and abuse of official position by corrupt elements in public administration, Mr Khoda said.
The Commission also advised the Director Vigilance Organization to monitor the working of Investigating Officers and reward the good work done and take action in respect of lapses committed in investigations.
The review meeting was chaired by Kuldeep Khoda and attended by Vigilance Commissioner, Dr R K Jerath; Vigilance Commissioner, Gous-Ul-Nissa, Owais Ahmad, Director Vigilance Organization and other officers of Commission/ Organization.
