JAMMU, Mar 13: A parked Mahindra Scorpio SUV suffered significant damage after being engulfed in flames at Trikuta Nagar area of the district, creating panic among the residents of the locality.

Officials said the black coloured Scropio belonging to a doctor was parked when flames suddenly erupted from the vehicle.
As the news of the fire spread, people in the area rushed to the spot and immediately informed the vehicle owner as well as the Fire and Emergency Services, they said.
Immediately, officials said, a team from the Fire and Emergency Department reached the spot and started efforts to contain the blaze.
After hectic efforts, the fire was finally brought under the control, they said.
Since the exact cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained, police have started further investigation into the matter.
