NAGROTA, Aug 26 : India and Pakistan must get into a sustained dialogue for better relations between the two countries because the improved Indo-Pak relations only can ensure stability in this sub-continent, said Devender Singh Rana, Political Advisor to Chief Minister while addressing public meetings at Nagrota and Tada here today.
Rana said the improved Indo-Pak relations are most beneficial for the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly those staying in the border areas and this can be achieved by a consistent, sincere dialogue process where both sides give confidence to each other by just not words but deeds to build a bond of trust and mutual confidence. He said more trade routes must open between the two sides of Kashmir and the people to people contact must be promoted alongwith cultural, educational and economic exchange.
He said that Omar Abdullah has been a strong votary of better Indo-Pak relations and has maintained that these are imperative for peace and resolution of various issues. He said that National Conference and its leadership has always played a pivotal role in the past for better Indo-Pak relations and shall continue to do so in the future as well in the interest of the two countries and for the welfare of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Rana said the anticipated dynamic changes in Afghanistan in 2014 will have a bearing on the peace and stability in the region. He said the same can be maintained if the two neighbouring countries work together with each other.
The Political Advisor said that success of SAARC also depends on the relations between India and Pakistan and if the relations are improved, based on mutual trust and faith underlined with total transparency the SAARC region can emerge as one more economic vibrant zone in the world.
Earlier, in an impressive function, the Political Advisor handed-over two water tankers to the PHE Department each of 9000 liter capacity costing Rs. 27.30 lakh which were provided out of his constituency development fund for Block Dansal and nine Panchayats of Block Bhalwal of Nagrota Assembly constituency.
Sarpanchs, Panchs and prominent persons of the constituency were also present on the occasion and expressed their gratitude to Devender Singh Rana for providing water tankers.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President National Conference Jammu province while addressing the meetings said J&K National Conference has astutely led people towards a prosperous future and has always felt concerned for the speedy and balanced development of all regions with a special focus on under developed and in accessible areas. He said that National Conference will continue to uphold the principals of secularism and work for strengthening democratic institutions to translate developmental policy of the party into reality.
