Sustainable development of all regions Govt’s endeavor: Bali

JAMMU: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today said that Government’s endeavor is to create sustainable public infrastructure with special thrust on road sector, which he said is key to the socio-economic development of the people.

Addressing a well attended public meeting at Paloura Top, the Minister said that Raipur-Domana constituency which has lagged behind in development process is under special focus of the present regime headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti wherein equal opportunities of development are being provided to all areas to ensure all round growth of the State and its people. He said more than 100-kms of road length has been blacktopped alone in Raipur-Domana constituency and efforts are afoot to upgrade all link roads in a phased manner.

Referring to the upgradation of two important roads viz; Jammu-Akhnoor road and Bantalab-Amb Gharota road, the Minister said that latter has been taken up under Central Road Fund (CRF) with an estimated cost of Rs. 19 crore and work is in full swing. Similarly, the 4-laning of important Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch highway has already been sanctioned by the Central Government under PMDP and survey is underway.

With the up-gradation of these two important roads, there will be great boost to the economic activities and communication network between Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Kashmir Valley via Mughal road. This will also give impetus to tourism and other auxiliary industries in the region, said the Minister.

Responding to the local issues like augmentation of drinking water, improvement of lanes and drains, transport services, construction of community hall and opening of health sub-center, the Minister assured timely action on every front.

On the occasion, the Minister also dedicated to the public a community bathing ghat constructed at a cost of Rs. 3 lakh, for which the funds have been provided under CDF.
