NEW DELHI: Ignoring Pakistan’s negative attitude towards her visa gestures, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday acceded to fresh requests from across the border on humanitarian grounds.
Among the applicants are parents of a toddler who will undergo open heart surgery. In a tweet, Ms Swaraj said, “Yes.
Muhammad Shafay is only 3 years old. We will issue visa for his open heart surgery in India”.
The father of the toddler while requesting the External Affairs Minister had tweeted, “@SushmaSwaraj I would like to request you please issue the medical visa for my little son Muhammad Shafay Siddiqui open heart surgery and his appointment date is 20th December 2017.
We have submitted visa application form on 6th November 2017 and control # PAKIV14B0817”.
The Minister also responded to medical visa requests to two other patients and tweeted, “There is a request for Bone marrow transplant of Master Abdur Rehman who is only 9 years old.
We will issue visa for his treatment in India”. “Indian High Commission in Pakistan will issue visa for her liver transplant surgery in India”. On Tuesday, Ms Swaraj had announced granting of medical visas to four Pakistani nationals.
Pakistan last week had accused India of politicising a humanitarian issue. (AGENCIES)
