JAMMU, Dec 29: Surinsar Lake played host to adventure camp organised by Directorate of Education.Over 160 students from four districts of Jammu region were joined by students of GHSS Surinsar. The camp started with Tree Talk by OP Vidyarthi IFS who emphasized the need for environmental awareness among the students. He elaborated about the Indian tree heritage and the significance of different trees in our culture.The students participated in the Tree Talk around Surinsar Lake.A Tree Quiz was also organized by Samvedna Sharma on the occasion.
State Pollution Control Board SPCB organized a painting cum awareness activity for the participants. SPCB provided colourboxes and Drawing sheets to the participants.Five participants were given Certificates of Excellence onspot in drawing competition namely Hardev Singh, Prerna, Muskaan,Khushi and Arya Singh. A Question Answer session was also organized.
In the afternoon session Dr Abhishek Chouhan from Deptt. of Psychiatry, GMC in an interactive session awared the students about the need for younger generation to avoid drug abuse and adopt healthy lifestyle.The session was also attended by Suraj Chander Jasrotia ETO, Deptt. of Excise.
Magic show by magician Jasvinder Singh enthralled the participants of the adventure camp. The magic show was organised by Bureau Of Public Outreach, Info. and Broadcasting Ministry. The adventure camp has been organised in collaboration with Surinsar Mansar Dev Authority. Tomorrow the adventure camp shall conclude with a visit to famous Mansar Lake and a Dogri Kavi Sammelan on the decks of Boat Club.
