JAMMU, Oct 11: The Surankote terrorist attack in which five Army jawans including a Junior Commissioned Officer got martyrdom today, was strongly condemned by the political parties while as anti-Pakistan protests were also held in Jammu city condemning the terrorist attack on security forces.
Strongly condemning the cowardly attack by militants, senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of J&K Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed his grief on the loss of brave hearts of the Army early morning today in Poonch sector. “My heart goes out for those families who have lost their loved ones in the line of duty while guarding the borders,” said Azad.
Expressing anger over the martyrdom of Army jawans, senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta asserted that the terrorists behind the martyrdom of 5 soldiers will soon be hunted down and neutralized to avenge the loss of lives of sons of the soil. Kavinder castigated Pakistan for waging asymmetric war in J&K. He said that India will respond in the language which Pakistan understands well. He also shared profound condolence with the families of the martyred soldiers, who gave supreme sacrifice for the security and safety of the motherland.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed deep shock over the martyrdom of five army jawans including a JCO in Surankote area of Poonch today and strongly condemned the terrorist attack. In a strongly worded condemnation, JKPCC president G A Mir and other senior leaders termed it as a cowardly act and saluted the bravery of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The Party conveyed deep sympathies to their families and prayed for peace to the departed souls on behalf of entire rank and file of the party.
Expressing concern over the martyrdom of a JCO and four Indian Army jawans in Surankote encounter, Apni Party president Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari said, “We express our sympathy with the family members of the martyred soldiers who laid down their lives while fighting the militants. Their supreme sacrifice will always be remembered.”
Meanwhile, activists of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city against the martyrdom of Army jawans. The party workers burned the effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and shouted anti-Pakistan slogans. Gupta said that the Pakistan has challenged the sovereignty of our nation and therefore, a befitting reply should be given to Pakistan so that it does not indulge in such acts in future. He demanded that an action like Balakote strike be conducted on the terror camps of Pakistan so that these militants can be finished at their inception only.
Expressing anger over the martyrdom of the jawans, workers of Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) also held an anti-Pakistan protest at New Plot in Jammu. The JWAM activists raised slogans against Pakistan and demanded Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to launch a surgical strike in PoK and destroyed all the terrorist camps. JWAM president Sunil Dimple urged Modi to give free hand to security forces to tackle the militancy in their own way.
