Process of filling 12 sub-specialities at GMC’s new Paediatric Hospital begins

SRINAGAR, Oct 11: The authorities have geared up the recruitments of doctors for the newly constructed 500-bedded Paediatric Hospital with applications invited from the eligible candidates for 12 new sub-specialities in paediatrics.
In this regard, the GMC, Srinagar has sought applications from the in-service, non-PSC doctors for the posts on a tenure basis for 500 Bedded New Paediatric Hospital, Government Medical College, Srinagar which is aiming at upgrading the existing paediatric care across the Valley.
Posts are to be filled in Neonatology, Paediatric Anaesthesia, Paediatric Surgery Paediatric Radio diagnosis & Imaging, Paediatric Microbiology, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Paediatric Orthopaedic, Paediatric Nephrology, Paediatric Cardiology, Paediatric Neurology, Paediatric Gastroenterology and Paediatric Biochemistry.
Concerning the services of Non-PSC candidates, they will be hired on an Academic Arrangement basis under S.O. 364 of 2020, while as the PSC confirmed candidates shall be governed by the relevant rules as envisaged in the J&K Civil Service Rules 1979 initially for a period of one year extendable up to 3 years subject to better performance of the candidate.
For Neonatology, the qualification has been set as M.D/DNB Paediatrics, while DM Neonatology/DNB Neonatology will be given preference. The same is the case with other sub-specialities where it has been noted that the preference will be given to the higher qualification.
It is to be noted here that the existing paediatric care hospital at Sonwar is going to be shifted to Bemina where the new paediatric hospital is coming up and is going to be under the direct control of GMC, Srinagar. The paediatric hospital has also been recently accorded approval by the Govt. Also, some of the recruitments have already been made while the major chunk was yet to be taken up.
As per the officials, the performance of the candidates who will be engaged will be reviewed during their 1st and 2nd years of engagement, the report of which will be obtained from the respective HODs after completion of 1st and 2nd year of Registrarship.
In the case of non-PSC candidates, their stipend shall be paid as per S.O. 364 of 2020 Dated. 27-11-2020, while apart from other necessary documents, they will also be required to submit physical active field service certificate after PG/Rural service before PG certificate issued by the Director, Health Services-specific in respect of in-service doctors.
It has also been noted that the decision of the competent authority regarding the selection of candidates is going to be a final while as no representation whatsoever will be entertained in this regard.
Also, later, after the recruitment process, the selected candidates will have to execute an agreement that he/she will not leave the Department before the completion of the Registrarship/ Demonstratorship term, while as abandoning/terminating of the arrangement in the Specialty will require one-month prior notice on either side failing which the salary shall not be paid for one month to the incumbent.
“It will always remain in deposit with the Department and shall be released on completion of the sanctioned term,” the notification reads.
