SAMBA, May 30: The residents of Supwal, Barrian, Chak Ramchand, Sunjwan and Tanda area of district Samba are facing acute power crisis.
The people alleged that for the last over one month, they are getting hardly 10 to 12 hours power supply during these hot summer days while majority of the power is diverted to the nearby SIDCO Industrial complex. There is no power cut schedule and PDD staff imposes power cuts at their whims and fancy. The residents of these villages are facing problems and there is no body to listen.
One Kuldeep Kumar from Sunjwan village alleged that even the local MLA Dr Manyal expressed his helplessness over the matter when the villagers met him recently. The concerned local PDD staff claims that there is need to upgrade the old power infrastructure. A senior PDD officer at Vijaypur Division claimed that to supply power to Industrial area is their priority and due to non-upgradation of power structure these villages are facing problem. When the funds are upgradation are provided, the power supply position will improve there.
