Superintendents of Central Excise hold protest

JAMMU, Sept 13: All India Association of Central Excise Gazetted Executive Officers, Chandigarh Zone today held a protest against the Government for not regularizing the adhoc Superintendents.
As a mark of protest, Superintendents of Customs and Service Tax tied black ribbons on their arms while performing their routine work. The protest was also held in the offices of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
They alleged that Superintendents who have been promoted during the last five years in the department have not been regularized. “They are still running adhoc, even though permanent posts are available”, they said adding, the Association of Officers submitted memorandums to the higher authorities several times, but the department did not consider any of their demand.
In offices of some states, officials of others class also used tied black ribbons on their arms to show sympathy and solidarity with protesting Superintendents. The Association said that if their demands were not considered, then it would aggravate demonstrations in coming days.
