Sunil reviews drinking water supply in Kishtwar

Srinagar, June 11: Minister for Power Sunil Kumar Sharma today convened a meeting to review the status of water supply in Kishtwar through video conference and directed the concerned officers to ensure that the people of the district are provided with adequate supply of water.
The Minister was taking a follow up of the earlier meeting done on the complaints registered by people of the district with regard, to the short fall in the quantum of water being received by them. In this regard, he directed the concerned authorities to regularize the distribution of water in and around the town for which a concrete plan and distribution roaster should be maintained and followed on daily basis rigorously.
The meeting was informed that the water supply of the town has been restored to about 50 percent and measures are afoot to ensure that the people get the requisite amount within the shortest possible time. It was given out that the illegal connections, which have come in notice have been un-plugged and correspondingly stand regularized and further steps to augment the supply have been taken.
It was also given out that the leakages of the supply pipes, which were also contributing to the water loss, have also been plugged besides the town has been divided into four separate zones to rationalize the supply.
Sunil also directed the Deputy Commissioner to constitute special teams for keeping a check on   distribution in the town and Mandal area so as to fix responsibilities of the field staff for any kind of negligence. He said that they should synergize their efforts to ensure that the problem is solved and people do not face any in convenience.
Minister warned that any dereliction of duty or laxity on part of the concerned officers will be viewed seriously and will invite strong action against the officer/official concerned.
