Sunil launches online services on CSC platform

JAMMU, Apr 26: Minister of State for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma, today launched e-Vahan and e-Sarthi services of the Transport Department through the platform of Common Service Centres.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Secretary Transport, M. Raju, Transport Commissioner Saugat Biswas, and Chief Operating Officer, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. (CSC-SPV) Rishiraj Singh were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Kumar Sharma informed that the Jammu & Kashmir in the last two years, has initiated and successfully implemented various measures for bringing in transparency in the Department. “Today’s launch is a step further to provide Licence and driver related services near the doorsteps of the public by facilitating these services through Common Service Centres (CSCs) located in almost every panchayat of the State”, he added.
Earlier, the Motor Vehicles Department and CSC-SPV entered into an MoU for providing CSC platform for e-Vahan and e-Sarthi Services.  Giving background of the significant measures taken by the Motor Vehicles Department, Saugat Biswas informed that the J&K was among the first States in the country to have fully implemented the upgraded online Services of the Government of India viz. Sarthi and Vahan 4.0.  He added that with the launch of today’s event, public can now pay for token tax / fees , apply for duplicate Registration Certification, transfer of ownership, fitness certification, apply for Learner’s and driving licence, book slot for learner’s test or driving test, besides renewal / replacement etc. of driving licences through the Common Services Centres located throughout the State on a nominal fee of Rs. 50 on each service.
MD SRTC Mir Afroz, Director State Motor Garages Zakir Chaudhary, Additional Transport Commissioner Mohinder Singh, Joint Transport Commissioner Vikas Sharma, officers of Motor Vehicles Department Farooq Renzu Shah State head CSC, Shahnawaz GM, CSC-SPV, representatives of CSC-SPV and VLEs drawn from both Jammu and Kashmir region were present on the occasion.
