Sunil inaugurates Canal Cluster Project

KISHTWAR, July 10: Minister of State for Transport, Revenue, Public Works (R&B), Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Agriculture production and YSS, Sunil Sharma inaugurated a Canal Cluster Project at village Galighar here.
With the geographical area of around 1,09,434 hectares and cultivable command area of 4910 hectares, the project is intended to supply irrigation water through 42 khuls having the approximate length of 113.60 kms.
Being constructed at the estimated cost of Rs 1786.44 lakh, the project is funded by the Ministry of Water Resources (CADWM), Govt. of India and implemented by Command Area Development Authority Jammu. The project will be completed in phased manner over a period of 3 years.
Speaking on the  occasion, the Minister said that the  project will ensure effective use of water by improving convenient system from outlet to fields and to allow controlled use of available irrigation water thereby increasing the per hectare crop yield of the area.
Mr Sharma stressed that the project once completed will bridge the gap between irrigation potential created and potential utilized by the farmers and will help in checking the problem of water lodging due to seepage.
Deputy Commissioner G N Balwan, Chief Agriculture Officer,  Chief Horticulture Officer, officers of Rural Development Department besides sectoral and district heads of various other line departments were present on the occasion.
